Robert B. Wallace  –  Managing Director

Bob is the sole owner and founding director of Wallace International. With over 40 years of experience within the industry, he holds a current Customs Brokers License and an Advanced Diploma of Australian and International Trade Facilitation. Through Bob’s experience and active participation in the industry over many years, he has held positions on industry boards and has represented the industry to many Australian Government initiatives including the implementation of Electronic Systems with Australian Customs and Quarantine Services. Bob is the current National Chairman of the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia (CBFCA) and proactively advocates the industry to all stakeholders in the supply chain. As recognition for his efforts the company holds national awards for its service to industry, most notably in dealing with the major Australian Border Statutory Government Departments.

Brendan Gardiner  –  National Business Development Manager

Brendan started in the industry in 1979 and is a licensed Customs Broker with Quarantine accreditation. He was employed initially with Bulk Handling and General Services (BHGS) and went on to work for Australian Forwarding Agency (AFA). In 1987, Brendan owned and operated Gateway Customs Brokers for 20 years prior to merging operations with Wallace International in November 2006. Having owned his own business, Brendan is highly motivated in helping other businesses streamline their supply chain management by sharing his expertise and offering individual solutions for their unique business processes. He also represents Wallace International in attending the Port of Brisbane Landside Logistics Forum regularly as an advocate for importers and exporters. Brendan’s 35 years of experience has brought a broad knowledge on a variety of imports and exports, including yachts, prestige motor vehicles, tours and projects.


Tony Gardiner  –  Queensland State Manager

Tony has over 30 years of experience within the industry and is a Licensed Customs Broker with AQIS accreditation. Tony has been with Wallace International since 1981 and has a broad understanding of cargo handling & clearance procedures along with a complete knowledge of the client base and their specific needs. He has been responsible for supervising some of Wallace International’s largest and most complex import and export consignments including the hiring of an Antonov 124 to air freight an urgent commercial shipment from Australia to Britain. Tony has also overseen the importation of over 100,000 imports in his career.

New South Wales

Suzy Gusset  –  NSW State Manager

Suzy started her career in 1979 and has since gained invaluable experience in all facets of our industry. Upon joining Wallace in 2000, Suzy broadened her role to include; all accounting, legal, IT, human resources, transport and facilities management. Suzy supervises a highly specialized imported foods department for a number of diverse clients. Her passion for customer service sets a standard for our entire NSW operations. Suzy is an integral member of the senior management of Wallace International and her vision for the company extends not just to NSW but nationally.

Mark Haeusler – Regional Operations & Business Development Manager

Mark is a licensed Customs Broker with Quarantine accreditation and has been with Wallace International for over 12 years. Mark has over 30 years’ experience in our industry with a strong background in customs clearance, air and sea freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution. Having worked for small firms and global corporations, Mark understands the need for personalized customer service with a holistic approach to freight and customs clearance services. He maintains active in day to day operational duties while also promoting Wallace International on the world stage with our membership in the World Freight Group. Specialising in chemical and food shipments, Mark provides insightful freight knowledge, not only to his clients but also nationally across Wallace International. Marks extensive knowledge of Customs Law and Regulations also offers our customers professional advice to their total requirements in international trade logistics. Mark also sits on the NSW Advisory Committee for the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia.

Josh Mikkelsen- Group Trade Development & Project Logistics

Josh started his freight & customs career in 1997. Progressing quickly he found a niche in project logistics & started his own business at 23, merging with Wallace International in 2012. Josh’s knowledge, attitude & attention to detail facilitate seamless freight solutions for the largest & most complex time sensitive shipments. Project Manager for the likes of Boeing, BMW, Cirque Du Soleil, Toyota & a range of Australian & Overseas companies he will do anything to get the job done & remains on call 24/7. Complementing this is his expertise in Motorcycle Logistics, Exhibitions & Tradeshows. Josh carries the same can do attitude into all of his work & enjoys the variety of company owners he meets; each with a different story & each needing their own tailored solutions.


Robert Cherbakof  –  Victorian State Manager

Rob is a licensed Customs Broker with Quarantine accreditation, and is an Associate Member of the Australian Institute of Export. Rob started in the industry in 1972 and worked with various customs and forwarding companies and also as a shipping manager for a multitude of importers & exporters to build his experience base. Rob then started his own business, LR International, to help other companies with his extensive and intricate shipping knowledge. He ran this for over 10 years before merging operations with Wallace International and now leads our Victorian office. Rob specializes in the freight, handling and storage of perishable goods and leads dedicated staff to ensure efficient and customized services for the most delicate and sensitive goods.

Western Australia

Phillip Thomas  –  Western Australian State Manager

Phil has over 35 years’ experience within the industry and is a licensed broker with DAFF accreditation. He has held a number of state management positions covering Northern Territory and Western Australia over the last 25 years before joining with Wallace International. Phil specializes in the freight handling and clearance projects of oversize cargo for the oil and gas mining sectors. This includes handling all facets of international freight, transport (local & long haul), Customs and Quarantine clearance and the storage and distribution. While, currently based in Perth, Phil’s experience, expertise and contacts allow him to service operations and projects into anywhere in Western Australia and Northern Territory.
